Liv Valö, Ph.D.

Psychologist
Dr. Valö (she/her) is a Psychologist with special interest and training in mindfulness and evidence-based therapies for a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief/bereavement as well as self-compassion and relational work. With an emphasis on collaborative care, her therapeutic approach draws upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and various Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-based approaches.
Dr. Valö earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maine (APA-accredited), completing her doctoral internship at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA with emphasis on geropsychology and third wave therapeutic approaches. She then completed a postdoctoral clinical fellowship in mindfulness and psychotherapy at the Center for Mindfulness & Compassion at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, where she continues to serve as a staff psychologist and collaborator in mindfulness research. Dr. Valö is also a Kripalu-certified yoga instructor and welcomes opportunities to integrate movement and nature into the therapeutic process to support resilience and wellbeing at all ages.
